Plus, Seeking Parents With Art Director Chops
With the holidays on the horizon, I’m inviting you to two things. First, come celebrate with us at the Trackers Holiday Fair with local artisan crafters and our classic Holiday Goblin Market (that playful world of whimsical trades and imagination). Second, consider coming out to Camp Roslyn this Sunday (Nov 16) to find the tracks of Elk, Deer, Bear, Bobcat, Coyote, and more at our November Tracking Club!
And also, take a moment for a winter dream about what may come next.
For years, Trackers has built immersive story adventures for kids in camps. In the year ahead, we’re hoping to grow that magic beyond camp to places where families can step into it together—spaces you don’t just visit, but adventure through. Imagine turning our SE Portland HQ into a kid-friendly Halloween Mystery Town or a Winter Wonderland Village. Picture Camp Roslyn as a Realms Fantasy Forest, a Music & Skills Fest or a cinematic Halloween Haunt that’s more like Dark Crystal fantasy than fanatical clowns. To us, playing through story can be one of the best methods of learning. We plan to feature our places as teachers and also, tellers of stories.
Dear Parents with Art Director Superpowers!
We’re in the first stages of puzzling out how to do this. And if you build worlds for a living—art direction, production design, scenic, MUFX, museum, amusement parks, or festival environments—we’d love to learn more about how you feel we could do this. We’re exploring a high-craft, community-based collaboration—think in the spirit of a Trackers Art Director of Immersive Environments—creative collaborators helping shape spaces where families step into immersive story adventures. If translating lore into physical places, picking up a hammer, and mentoring a small cross-disciplinary crew sounds energizing—let’s talk. Email Michelle, our Trackers Editor-in-Chief, at michelle@trackersearth.com.
