Navigating the PPS School Year

Adapting the calendar
And North Clackamas School District!
<

Dear Trackers Families,

So much news. So little space. Bear with me. Portland Public Schools’ calendar has a way of keeping Trackers and our families on our toes: new no-school days and changing dates for when summer begins. Figuring out camp on such short notice can be a challenge. But when school shifts, we’ve got your back.

This spring, we added a No School Day Camp for May 1. And since PPS students now start summer Friday, June 5, we launched a Trackers Ultimate Adventure Camp for June 8–12. This is one extra week before our original summer season and is led by our senior Trackers Guides.

For Trackers Ultimate Adventure, each day runs through a different Guild: wilderness survival with Rangers, creek wading and crawdad-catching with Mariners, farm exploration and highland cows with Wilders, stealth games and Goblin Market trading with Artisans.

Plus, Basecamp and Blacksmithing are also available that week for families needing a Basecamp (onsite) option. And if your school starts after Labor Day—such as North Clackamas— Trackers Ultimate Adventure is also available August 31–September 4.

Fall Programs Launch

Our school year programs are now open for registration. Families who register before May 22 with a $45 deposit will receive 10% off their payment plans.

Weekend Apprenticeships return this fall for Grades K–12. One weekend a month, from fall through spring, students apprentice in outdoor skills and arts. Day and overnight options are available. Learn More ››

Trackers Homeschool and Forest Preschool (ages 4–5) are also open for fall registration now with the discount. Both programs are built around connection, outdoor adventure, and Trackers skills.

After School Evolved

We have been quietly crafting a new, yet more old school, Trackers After School program, and we’re excited to share what’s new.

NEW! Transported After School Outdoors (TAO) returns to its roots. Next fall, after pick-up our 5-day-a-week after-school program heads straight outdoors to nearby natural spaces for skills, tracking, games, and adventure. Learn More ››

NEW! Trackers Skills Studio launches April 23 as a flexible single day after-school option for self-transported students, featuring archery, RPGs, ceramics, woodworking, blacksmithing, and more. It now includes late afternoon and evening middle/high school classes and Family Blacksmithing courses. Learn More ››

We also added a 5% discount on summer registration through April 24. This felt right, given what a lot of families shared they are navigating right now.

One last thing: we have free community events at the Trackers Lodge coming up next week. Skills Night on April 2 features a Goblin Market and hands-on crafts, and Trackers KidsCon on April 4 brings local children’s book authors together for hands-on activities and a goblin egg hunt.

The school year is winding down, and summer is almost here. We hope to see you and your kids soon in the forest and at the Trackers Lodge.

See you in the forest,

Molly Deis
