Raise Prepared & Ready Kids – How Tracking Helps!

Why send your kids to Trackers? We know everyone has different reasons, but we hope there’s one we all share.

Maybe you need something for them to do in summer. Or perhaps your child came to you and said, “I want to learn archery and wilderness survival,” which made you think it’s probably time to cut back on the repeat viewings of Lord of the Rings. Maybe they want to learn how to fish—though they never seem interested in eating the fish you cook for dinner. Maybe blacksmithing caught their eye, and you’re thinking a trade skill could come in handy if AI replaces medical, law, and accounting careers.

Our real hope is that kids and families choose Trackers because they want to connect with the traditional skills that are innately human—building shelters from trees, making fire from sticks, finding food on the land, and sharing it with friends and community. Developing awareness through tracking—whether you’re following an elk herd or finding your way on the land—helps you get to know your place and yourself.

We hope families choose Trackers because we encourage kids to pay attention to the real world, rather than getting lost in devices and screens where their attention is bought and sold by digital platforms. We hope families join Trackers because they value the deeper purpose behind these experiences. As kids grow more independent and develop a greater appreciation for nature, they naturally cultivate responsibility, stewardship, and a desire for service.

Caretaking, service, and responsibility are exactly what this world needs right now. While the challenges of our modern world can feel overwhelming, nature offers meaningful challenges that feel both honest and true. At Trackers, learning together as a family—across generations and in connection with nature—is what we fervently believe in. We hope that’s part of why you send your kids to Trackers… so they can eventually go beyond Trackers and carry this mission into the world.

Keep on tracking,
